The awardees for FY2005 include twelve international joint research teams that will contribute to the advancement of the international level of industrial technology.
- Outline of the NEDO Grant
The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) has offered research grants to over 600 researchers internationally since its grant program started in 1988. The NEDO Grant is highly regarded around the world, and the program aims to promote advancement of the international level of industrial technology and create new industry, and consequently advance Japanese industrial technology. The results achieved are expected to create a basis for new key industrial technologies.
- Selection Process
The research teams were selected from among 199 teams that submitted applications. NEDO selected the research teams according to the following process. Research proposals were evaluated by peer reviews and a selection advisory committee (Chair: Dr. Hiroyuki Abe, Council for Science and Technology Policy, Cabinet Office), and selected research themes were finally determined by a contract and grant advisory committee based on candidate themes selected by program officers.

Twelve teams were selected to receive grants in the International Standard Development area. Please see Attachment 1 for details.
