Based on the results of a NEDO project, Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. has completed and launched operations at the world's largest class cellulose nanofiber (CNF) large-scale production facility, which features an annual CNF production capacity of 500 tons.

At this facility, it is possible to mass produce CNF that is transparent and capable of providing various functions. It is also completely nano-dispersed from chemically treated wood pulp using the TEMPO catalytic oxidation method. In the future, CNF is expected to be put into practical use in a wide variety of industrial applications, such as functional sheeting, functional additives, and nanocomposite materials.
