January 4, 2010

NEDO exhibited organic electroluminescent lighting, which is expected to be disseminated as next-generation lighting*, at a state-of-the-art technology demonstration session following Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama’s keynote address regarding Japan’s New Growth Strategy on December 30, 2009 at the Prime Minister’s official residence.
The New Growth Strategy announced by the Government of Japan aims to increase the average GDP nominal growth rate by over 3% and real growth by over 2%, targeting a nominal GDP of ¥650 trillion by FY2020.
The strategy is promoting the following six priority areas: the environment and energy, health care (medical and nursing care), Asia, tourism and local revitalization, science and technology, and employment and human resources.
NEDO’s booth for the technology demonstration session was visited by Prime Minister Hatoyama and other ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Naoto Kan, Mr. Masayuki Naoshima, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Kazuhiro Haraguchi, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Mr. Seiji Maehara, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Mr. Toshimi Kitazawa, Minister of Defense and Ms. Mizuho Fukushima, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Food Safety, Social Affairs, and Gender Equality.
