NEDO Held the "Symposium on the Research and Development Program for Robot Performance Evaluation Methods in Fukushima"

February 8, 2018

On February 6, 2018, NEDO, together with Fukushima Prefecture, co-hosted the "Symposium on the Research and Development Program for Robot Performance Evaluation Methods in Fukushima" in Minamisoma City, Fukushima.

In his opening speech, NEDO Executive Director Kiyoshi Imai greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped that achieving flight tests on NEDO's projects would introduce the Fukushima Robot Test Field to the world, as well as gather people from robotics industry inside and outside Japan. He also expressed his expectation for further development of the technologies being tested, as well as finding practical applications for them.

At the symposium, NEDO presented the latest research results on robot performance evaluation methods that NEDO is engaged in developing, which will facilitate the practical use of unmanned aerial, underwater, and ground vehicles. These vehicles are expected to have a variety of applications in the fields of delivery service, infrastructure inspection, and disaster investigation. The occasion also provided an introduction for the Fukushima Robot Test Field. In addition, NEDO hosted a panel presentation, and showcased actual examples of various kinds of robots being used in the projects, which attracted many visitors.
