"4th NEDO Symposium on Power Electronics" Held

February 19, 2018

On February 14, 2018, NEDO held the "4th NEDO Symposium on Power Electronics" in Tokyo.

The symposium was focused on the theme "New Applications of Next Generation Power Electronics: Power Systems Infrastructure and Transportation." At the symposium, NEDO presented anticipated future power electronics applications for improved energy efficiency in the field of electricity generation from renewable energy that is being introduced and promoted as a replacement for fossil fuels such as oil, in the aircraft industry, which is expected to lower environmental impact and increase economic efficiency through electrification of aircrafts, and in the railway industry in which the introduction of more efficient and lighter-weight railway vehicles are highly anticipated.

At the symposium, experts in various fields relating to power electronics gave lectures. Approximately 170 people participated in the symposium. The lecturers and the participants also had discussions during the poster presentations at the venue.
