NEDO Signed MOC with RusHydro and Government of Russian Federation's Sakha Republic

On February 27, 2018, NEDO, the Government of the Sakha Republic of the Russian Federation, and RusHydro signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) for demonstrating energy infrastructure, including wind power generation systems.

The project will focus on the introduction of stable electric power systems, including wind power generation systems, in Tiksi, a city in the Sakha Republic located in the Arctic circle. The systems will contribute to the stabilization of electric power systems in isolated grid areas. During the ceremony, NEDO Executive Director Takashi Omote greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped that this project would contribute to resolving energy and environmental problems in the Arctic region of Russia.

At the ceremony, the Japanese side was represented by NEDO Executive Director Omote, as well as Counsellor Economic Division Masafumi Oki of the Embassy of Japan in Russia, and representatives from Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Takaoka Toko Co., Ltd., and Komaihaltech Inc. The Russian side was represented by Head of the Sakha Republic Yegor Borisov as well as the General Director of RusHydro, Nilolay Shulginov.
