NEDO Held a Meeting to Report the Results of Its "Robot and Sensor System Development Project for Infrastructure Maintenance and Disaster Survey"

March 9, 2018

On March 8, 2018, NEDO held a meeting to report the results of its "Robot and Sensor System Development Project for Infrastructure Maintenance and Disaster Survey" in Tokyo. NEDO has been working on this project since FY 2014, which has a goal of developing technologies for acquiring information at infrastructural facilities and disaster sites where it is difficult for people to safely enter.

This is the final year of the project's robotics aspects. At the meeting, NEDO introduced the project's achievements, which are aimed at promoting the societal implementation of the technologies involved. NEDO Executive Director Kiyoshi Imai greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped the robots would contribute to infrastructure maintenance and disaster response, and that their use would promote the expansion of the technologies.

NEDO also introduced the results of its research on robot technologies for infrastructure maintenance, as well as an overview of the demonstration test that NEDO had conducted. NEDO also showcased actual working models of the robots, which attracted many visitors.
