NEDO Held the "Robot Symposium for Logistics, Infrastructure Inspection, and Disaster Relief" in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo

From March 5 to 9, 2018, NEDO held the "Robot Symposium for Logistics, Infrastructure Inspection, and Disaster Relief" in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.

At each symposium, NEDO gave lectures on the latest results of its research on developing robot performance evaluation methods, which will contribute to accelerating practical applications for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), underwater inspection robots, and land mobile robots. These robots are expected to be utilized in many fields, including logistics, infrastructure inspection, and disaster relief. NEDO also introduced the Fukushima Robot Testing Field (RTF), where the results of the research on evaluation methods will be utilized by robot engineer and robot operators. In his opening speech, NEDO Executive Director Kiyoshi Imai greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped that utilization of NEDO's new robot performance evaluation methods at the RTF would enable testers to verify the performance of robots and drones, as well as contribute to accelerating multiple practical applications for the robots in a variety of fields.

In addition to the lectures, NEDO hosted panel presentations and video presentations on its research and development, which attracted many visitors in all three venues. Panel discussions were also held where participants, including experts from various fields of robot research, engaged in a lively exchange of views.
