NEDO Takes Part in Ceremony For Mechanical Completion of The First and biggest Vertical Dry Methane Fermentation Facility in Japan

June 11, 2018

On June 7 NEDO representatives attended a ceremony held in Ayagawa city, Kagawa pref. to celebrate mechanical completion of the first vertical dry methane fermentation facility, which is the biggest one, in Japan. This facility was constructed by FUJI CLEAN CO., LTD. as one of NEDO's Demonstration Projects of Self-Sustaining Regional Systems for Biomass Energy.

Officials involved in the Project, including NEDO Executive Director Yoshiteru Sato, the governor of Kagawa Prefecture, and the mayor of Ayagawa, participated in the ceremony. During the guest of honor speeches, Executive Director Sato of NEDO said that, by validating this demonstration system, he expected this initiative to create Self-Sustaining Regional Systems for Biomass Energy which will turn waste products into resources, reduce emission of greenhouse gases, minimize impacts on the environment and so on. He also expects it to become a business model for long-term stable operation of such systems.

Commissioning is planned to be carried out in the months ahead and demonstration operation will start from October 2018.
