"8th CDTI-NEDO Joint Workshop" Held

On July 2, 2018, NEDO and the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) held the "8th CDTI-NEDO Joint Workshop" in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. The workshop focused on the theme of "The Offshore Wind Energy Generation Technology."

The workshop was held with the cooperation of the Japan Wind Power Association and the Basque Energy Cluster to provide lectures on the current conditions and future prospects for the development of offshore wind power generation technologies in the two countries. It was attended by 40 participants from 25 Japanese companies and 120 participants from 60 Spanish companies. Spain and Japan are both seafaring countries with many interests in common with regard to the future expansion of offshore wind power generation. The workshop provided an opportunity for a lively exchange of views between the two countries.

As part of this joint workshop, the lectures were followed by a study tour of the tower manufacturing site managed by Haizea Wind Group at the Port of Bilbao.
