NEDO and Indonesian Ministry of Industry sign MOU on Production Project of Molasses Ethanol

 A ceremony was carried out for signing a MOU on a Production Project of Molasses Ethanol between NEDO and Indonesian Ministry of Industry, on 2nd of August 2010 in Jakarta, Indonesia. At the ceremony, NEDO Chairman Murata and Mr. Agus, administrative vice minister of the Ministry of Industry, signed the MOU and confirmed the cooperation for the success of the project.

 This project aims to convert the molasses, the waste from the molasses plants, to fuel ethanol. Also a fuel ethanol production plant using “repetitive batch method” based on “cohesive yeasts”, which is unique to Japanese production method, is to be constructed at the site of the molasses plants.

 The project targets an annual production of 30 thousand kilo litters of ethanol. Preceding the ceremony, Chairman Murata had a meeting with Minister Hidayat and agreed to make best efforts for the success of the project and to cooperate in other potential future projects.
