Tunisia Solar International Conference

  NEDO participated in the Tunisia Solar International Conference held from October 29 to 30 in Tunis, the capital of the Repubilic of Tunisia. The Conference started off with the keynote address and speeches by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ghannouchi, Prime Minister of Tunisia, and several ministers from the Mediterrenean countries, followed by the presentations by the relevant organizations regarding Tunisia Solar Plan and a wide range of renewable energy utilization plans in the Mediterrenean seaboard.

  NEDO Executive Director Wasaka delivered lecture on Japan's Solar Energy Project, introducing Japan's efforts for the technology development as well as the activities for demonstrative project implementation in El Borma, Tunisia, including the information on the Second Japan- Arab Economy Forum to be held in Tunis in December 11 and 12, 2010. There were more than 500 participants at the Conference hall, indicating high expectations for renewable energy development in the region.

  In October 30, Executive Director Wasaka had a meeting with Mr. Abdelhamid Triki, Secretary of State to the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation and Mr. Abdelaziz Rassaa, Secretary of State to the Ministry of Industry and Technology to exchange opinions regarding the future plans for the joint project for solar thermal power generation, of which Letter of Intent (LOI) was concluded in July 23, 2010.
