November 17, 2010

NEDO and the Public Utilities Board (PUB) of Singapore signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) in November 15, 2010, to jointly implement new joint projects for the development of industrial wastewater treatment technology, of which demand is expected to increase in Singapore and its neighboring countries. The LOI was signed by Mr. Takefumi FUkumizu, President of NEDO, and Mr. Khoo Teng Chye, Chief Executive of PUB, confirming further cooperation in project implementation. This agreement is based on the Memoradum of Understanding (MOU) concluded in June 2010 between NEDO and PUB regarding the establishment of cooperative relationship for the development of water treatment and recycling technologies.

PUB, which owns water treatment facilities for project implementation, is a governmental agency managing Singapore's water supply including technology development of a sewerage system. The Government of Singapore is actively promoting the introduction of new water treatment and recycling technologies and the development of domestic water-related business, drawing worldwide interest in this business field.

NEDO aims to contribute to the resolution of global water-related issues through the provision of full-scale test equipment for water recycling system technology to globally diffuse the technology and support the global development of Japanese enterprises.
