MOU Conclusion on a Traffic Information System Demonstration Project with the National Development and Reform Commission of China

  NEDO, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 21, 2011 to jointly implement a traffic information system demonstration project.

 The MOU signing ceremony was attended by the relevant officials of both the Chinese and Japanese sides, including Deputy Director He Bingguang of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection as well as Deputy Director Li Guohua of the Department of Foreign Affairs of NDRC, and Counselor Iida of the Embassy of Japan in China and entrusted parties of the project.

 The project, which aims to address and improve Beijing's traffic congestion and energy and environment related issues, will demonstrate the effectiveness of Japan’s traffic system technologies for the purpose of bringing innovative energy conservation as well as greenhouse gas emissions reduction effects. The project, which will introduce a service system consisting of a dynamic route guidance system (DRGS) and an eco management system (EMS) to improve traffic flow and energy consumption, will be implemented until the end of FY 2012.
