Cooperative Agreement Signed with Polish Environment Ministry in Energy/Environment Fields

 H.E. Mr. Andrzej Kraszewski, Minister of the Environment of the Republic of Poland and President Hato of NEDO signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on August 31, 2011 to search for future cooperative activities in the fields of clean energy development, energy efficiency as well as smart grid.
 During the meeting at the Polish Ministry of Environment in Warsaw, Mr. Kraszewski and Mr. Hato recognized the significance of amicable bilateral cooperation such as in GIS projects and agreed to advance discussion to look for the possibility to implement future collaborative activities in the said fields.

  • Smart grid: next-generation power grid technology to efficiently regulate the flow of electricity leveraging information and communications technology and demand sides' involvement
  • Green Investment Scheme (GIS): a mechanism in the framework of international emission trading, under Article 17 of the Kyoto Protocol, which designates the use of proceeds from an Assigned Amount Unit (AAU) transfers for greenhouse gas emission reduction and other environmental projects.
