Mr. Adnan Amin, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), visited NEDO on October 14, 2011 and met with NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa. During the meeting, they actively exchanged views on collaboration between IRENA and NEDO regarding the promotion of renewable energy.
IRENA, established on January 26, 2009, is an international institution whose mission includes the “promotion of the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy.” Japan became a member state of IRENA on June 29, 2009, and NEDO, which promotes the development of various renewable energy-related technologies, will collaborate with IRENA in a broad range of technology development fields as well as human resource development.
