Smart Community System Demonstration Project Kicks off in Spain

　NEDO and Malaga City of Spain agreed to further promote a smart community system demonstration project being carried out in Malaga, and Mr. Furukawa, Chairman of NEDO, and Mr. Francisco De La Torre Prados, Mayor of Malaga City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on May 25, 2012.

　Prior to the MOU conclusion, NEDO and the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) of the Spanish government issued a joint statement on May 23 confirming the provision of a strong support for the project. NEDO, Malaga City and the members of the Japanese and Spanish consortiums held an event in Malaga City to enlist participants for the project on May 24.
