NEDO and UK Government Agrees on Smart Community Feasibility Study in Manchester

December 5, 2012

NEDO, British government's Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) agreed on December 3, 2012 to conduct feasibility study (FS) for a smart community demonstrative project in the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and a letter of intent (LOI) was concluded between NEDO Chairman Furukawa and GMCA Chairman Lord Smith.
The demonstrative project is expected to contribute to the low-carbon policy of the British government through the introduction of Japan's smart heat utilization and smart community technologies, thereby paving the way for the development of England's next-generation electricity market.
