Lab Opening Ceremony for Regenerative Medical Project in Thailand

An experimental laboratory located in the medical faculty’s research building of the Chulalongkorn University of Thailand has been completed for NEDO project “Cooperative Research and Development on Regenerative and Cell-related Medical Technologies and the Optimization of Manufacturing Infrastructures” under implementation in the Republic of Thailand and an opening ceremony was held on September 30, 2013 at the project site in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. NEDO Chairman Furukawa, who also attended the ceremony, stated NEDO’s intention to make contribution to the development of Thai’s medical technology and welfare and to support development and dissemination of regenerative and cell-related medical technologies in Thailand through the implementation of the project.

Upon completion of the ceremony, the laboratory was opened for visit by relevant personnel to observe the automated cell culturing system being developed in the project. It is expected that the promotion of the project would bolster Japan’s advanced regenerative and cell-related medical technologies and result in the contribution to further vitalize the medical industries of both Japan and Thailand.
