December 19, 2013

Facilities for NEDO's smart community demonstration project, called JUMPSmartMaui, being implemented in Maui County in the State of Hawaii, have been completed and a ceremony to commemorate the commencement of the project was held on December 17, 2013, at the project site.
The ceremony was attended by about 300 personnel from relevant organizations and companies of Japan and the U.S. including project participants and Mayor Arakawa of Maui County, which volunteered as the 100th participant in the project. NEDO Executive Director Kuniyoshi greeted at the beginning of the ceremony and stated that this project's successful result would be globally deployed in countries with the similar environmental conditions to make contribution to the solution of world energy and environmental issues, expressing his expectation for this participants-led demonstration project.
