Attendance at 17th Japan-Spain Symposium

The 17th Japan-Spain Symposium was held on November 6 in the city of Santander, Spain, and Chairman Kazuo Furukawa attended as a panelist in the smart city session.

Chairman Furukawa provided an overview of the Smart Community Demonstration Project that NEDO is working on with the city of Malaga, and the findings which have been obtained through that project. He also gave a basic presentation on the Japan-Spain Innovation Program (JSIP) which is being operated jointly with the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), an agency of the Spanish government. Together with the other panelists, he discussed smart cities and the potential for cooperation between the two countries.
