NEDO and the U.S. State of Texas Conclude MOU for Energy Conservation Demonstration

August 12, 2015

NEDO and the State of Texas in the United States have agreed to advance the spread of high voltage direct current (HVDC) power supply technology to promote energy saving at data centers. NEDO Executive Director Fumio Ueda and Texas Secretary of State Carlos H. Cascos signed a memorandum of understanding for a demonstration of this technology on August 11, 2015.

In the demonstration, the goal is to achieve energy savings of 15% compared to conventional systems by introducing a high capacity HVDC power supply system (500 kW class) at the University of Texas at Austin's Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) and demonstrating the operation of the system.
