October 9, 2015

On October 7th and 8th, NEDO and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) held the "Innovation for Cool Earth Forum (ICEF)" in Tokyo, Japan.

ICEF is the energy and environmental equivalent of the Davos meeting and brings together world-class scientists, policymakers, and business leaders to solve global warming issues through the acceleration of innovation in the energy and environmental areas. The Forum was proposed by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and the first Forum took place last year in Japan.

About 1,000 participants from 70 countries participated in the Forum. About 130 speakers, including government ministers and thought leaders from a variety of fields, took part in the program. Among them was NEDO Special Adviser Hiroshi Kuniyoshi, who chaired the concurrent session "Role of Public Funding for Research, Development and Demonstration."
