Technology Development Project to Bring Together Industry, Academia, and Government Expertise in the Storage Battery Field Launched

On May 18, NEDO hosted a kickoff meeting for the "Research and Development Initiative for Scientific Innovation of New Generation Batteries II" (RISINGII).

At the press conference held prior to the kickoff meeting, Chairman Kazuo Furukawa greeted everyone by saying, "I hope that this project will function as a forum where knowledge can be fused together and creative ideas can be born for state-of-the-art researchers who have crossed the institutional boundaries to come together, contributing to creating technological innovations and strengthening the competitiveness of Japan’s automobile and storage battery industries.

In addition, it was announced that 10 companies, 16 universities, and four research institutes have been selected to join the project, including Kyoto University and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) as well as storage battery and automobile manufacturers.
