NEDO Signed MOU with the National Innovation Agency of Thailand Regarding a Demonstration Project for the Effective Use of Bagasse

August 2, 2016

On August 1, 2016, NEDO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kingdom of Thailand's National Innovation Agency (NIA) to work jointly on a project to demonstrate a manufacturing system to produce useful substances that can be converted into raw materials for bioethanol and high value-added products from the fibrous waste material left after sugarcane has been squeezed called bagasse.

This is the first attempt at applying Japan's polymer membrane technology in the biomass field in Thailand, and it will contribute to the increased production of bioethanol and the effective utilization of unused resources in Thailand. The MOU was signed by NEDO Executive Director Dr. Yoshiteru Sato and NIA Director Dr. Pun-Arj Chairatana in Thailand's capital Bangkok.
