October 11, 2016

NEDO participated in the "CEATEC JAPAN 2016" event at Makuhari Messe held from October 4 to October 7, 2016. At the event, NEDO presented the results of NEDO projects focused on the theme of "Internet of Things (IoT) Future Society Driven by NEDO Technologies".

With the aim of providing a strong push towards the realization of a "super-smart society", NEDO showcased the achievements of projects related to four themes that will become the foundation of that society, namely new manufacturing, integrated community care, intelligent transport, and hospitality. In addition, NEDO provided guided tours of the exhibition content to visitors and emphasized the projected outcomes of NEDO research and development projects.

Also of note was the awarding of the "Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award" to NEDO project participants Fujitsu Limited and QD Laser, Inc. for their development of "Retinal Imaging Laser Eyewear" technology at the CEATEC AWARD 2016. This technology is being developed as a support device for people with low vision as well as a general-use information display device for people as part of an IoT society.
