October 31, 2016

On October 17, NEDO participated in the "IEEE International Forum on Smart Grids for Smart Cities" which was held in France. The forum is an international conference organized by IEEE SmartCities and an association named "Think Smartgrids" which was established in 2015 with the aim of developing the smart grids in France and promoting French solutions around the world. It brought together a number of leading experts from Europe, the United States and Asia.

Makoto Watanabe, Executive Director of NEDO, gave a speech and participated in panel discussions concerning how distributed energy resources and e-mobilities are integrated into smart cities. He stated his view on the future perspective that the use of electric cars in the cities will contribute to the balanced demand-supply state in electric systems, while delivering a presentation regarding the efforts and challenges for the e-mobilities deployment in Japan and the objectives of NEDO's international demonstration projects on electric cars.
