NEDO Signed MOU with the City of Durban in the Republic of South Africa Regarding a Demonstration Project for Energy-Saving Sea Water Desalination Technology

November 22, 2016

On November 17, 2016, NEDO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding a demonstration project for energy-saving sea water desalination technology with the City of Durban in the Republic of South Africa. This is NEDO's first demonstration project in Africa.

By installing an energy-saving desalination system with an integrated water reuse process previously demonstrated as part of a NEDO project in Japan, the project will contribute to resolving water scarcity issues in the Republic of South Africa.

The MOU was signed by NEDO Executive Director Munehiko Tsuchiya and the Mayor of Durban Zandile Gumede near Durban.
