NEDO Signed an MOU with the Ministry of Energy of Poland Regarding a Smart Community System Demonstration Project

On March 14, 2017, NEDO and the Ministry of Energy of Poland agreed to jointly carry out a smart community system demonstration project. Makoto Watanabe, Executive Director of NEDO and Andrzej Piotrowski, Undersecretary of Polish Ministry of Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Poland's capital city of Warsaw.

By introducing Japanese technologies for power system stabilization and energy storage, the project will contribute to realizing highly reliable power system operations without installing new high-cost electricity networks in order to respond to the increasing introduction of renewable energy, especially wind power generation, in Poland.

At the signing ceremony, both organizations reconfirmed their cooperation on the demonstration project. Shigeo Matsutomi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Poland; Naofumi Makino, Director General of JETRO Warsaw; Eryk Klossowski, President & CEO of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A.; Robert Szaj, President of ENERGA Wytwarzanie S.A. and Krzysztof Bączyk, Vice President of ENERGA-OPERATOR S.A. also attended the ceremony.
