Cogeneration System Project Construction Started in Uzbekistan

NEDO, Marubeni Utility Services, Ltd. and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. have launched a demonstration project on gas turbine cogeneration systems in Fergana, Uzbekistan, and on April 19, 2017, NEDO and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly held a project commencement ceremony.

In this project, gas turbine cogeneration systems will be installed at two demonstration plants in Fergana City by FY 2020. The project aims to achieve energy savings of 38% while ensuring a stable supply of power and heat.

At the ceremony, the Japanese side was represented by NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa, as well as Nobuaki Itoh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and representives of Marubeni Utility Services, Ltd. and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., while the Uzbekistani side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gayrat Fazilov.
