May 16, 2017

From May 9 to May 12, NEDO participated in the “Vienna Energy Forum (VEF) 2017" in Vienna, Austria. The VEF is held every other year as a joint initiative supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Austrian government, and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). The forum was created to discuss concrete policies, from the standpoint of energy, to respond to a variety of global scale development issues. NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa participated in a high-level panel discussion on the final day of the event. He described NEDO's efforts to contribute to solving energy problems, and explained NEDO's stance toward solving international problems with a focus on innovation as a key word. In addition, NEDO co-hosted a side event with UNIDO, and made an appeal to event participants to join the next “Innovation for Cool Earth Forum (ICEF)” which is an annual international conference hosted by NEDO and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
