NEDO Initiates a Demonstration Test for Smart Community Systems in Indonesia

- Building a Smart and Eco-Friendly Industrial Park Model -

NEDO, in collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation, Sumisho Machinery Trade Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. and NTT Communications Corporation, has initiated a demonstration test for smart community systems installed at the Suryacipta City of Industry in Indonesia.

This project will lead to establishing a "Smart and Eco-Friendly Industrial Park Model" to solve urgent issues involving power supply stability and efficient power usage in Indonesia by utilizing Japanese power infrastructure technologies that enable improved power supply quality and energy savings.

Coinciding with the start of demonstration operations, NEDO held an opening ceremony at the Suryacipta City of Industry on May 23, 2017. The ceremony was attended by Executive Director of NEDO Makoto Watanabe, Executive Officer of Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. Kenji Goto, Director of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) of Indonesia Farida Zed, and Senior Manager of the Indonesia National Electricity Company (PLN) Amris Adnan, along with the project contractors and the industrial park's tenant companies.

During the ceremony, NEDO Executive Director Watanabe greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hopes that this project will make a significant contribution to solving domestic energy problems in Indonesia.
