NEDO Held a Seminar on Bioethanol Production in Thailand

June 5, 2017

NEDO and the Office of the Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB) of Thailand recently demonstrated a highly efficient bioethanol production technology through demonstration testing at a bioethanol production plant located in Saraburi Province, Thailand. This demonstration established the cost-effectiveness and technological feasibility of a commercial production model. To inform the concerned sugar industry and the public in Thailand of the results, a seminar was held in Bangkok on June 1, 2017.

At the seminar, the Japanese side was represented by Executive Director of NEDO Munehiko Tsuchiya and Senior Managing Executive Officer of Tsukishima Kikai Co., Ltd. Kazuo Nakajima, while the Thai side was represented by Secretary General of the OCSB Somsak Jantararoungtong as well as Managing Director of Thai Roong Ruang Energy Co., Ltd. Ugrit Asadatorn. Approximately 200 representatives from sugar industry companies attended the seminar.

NEDO Executive Director Munehiko Tsuchiya greeted the attendees by saying that NEDO hopes for the diffusion and expanded use of this technology throughout areas of Southeast Asia that cultivate sugar cane on a large scale.
