July 14, 2017

From July 10th to July 13th, NEDO participated in "INNOPROM 2017," Russia's largest industrial trade fair, in Ekaterinburg, Russia. NEDO introduced the latest technological trends, including a robotic wheelchair and combined heat and power plants. Approximately 4,300 people visited NEDO's booth, including Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich, officials from government agencies, and industry representatives from Japan and Russia.

At the "Russian-Japanese Industrial Forum: Optimizing Cooperation in Trade and Industry," the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Oreshkin, as well as the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and Minister for Economic Cooperation with Russia, Hiroshige Seko, delivered keynote lectures. The lectures were followed by a panel discussion, during which NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa presented current NEDO projects in Russia such as wind power generation systems, advanced traffic signal control systems, and waste treatment technology. He also expressed his expectation for further cooperation between Japanese and Russian companies through Japanese technology, which is expected to play a leading role in solving problems. During the concurrent session "The Nature of Innovation: Energy-Efficient and Environment Friendly Technologies," in which NEDO Executive Director Makoto Watanabe served as a moderator, there was a lively discussion regarding non-industrial waste.

During the event, NEDO Chairman Furukawa had a meeting with Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, and they confirmed that NEDO will continue to promote its projects in Russia. Meanwhile, NEDO Executive Director Watanabe had a meeting with First Deputy General Director of the Agency for Technological Development (ATD) Vadim Kulikov, during which they exchanged views on collaborations between Japanese and Russian companies.
