Ceremony Held to Celebrate the Completion of a New Research Facility for Energy-Efficient System in Shanghai, China

On July 20, 2017, NEDO held a ceremony in Shanghai, China, to celebrate the completion of the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research Facility that was conducted by the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI). During the building's design phase, Japan's energy conservation technology was introduced, and a demonstration of the energy-efficient system will begin in the near future.

At the ceremony, the Japanese side was represented by NEDO Executive Director Munehiko Tsuchiya, as well as Consul of the Japanese Consulate-General in Shanghai Daisuke Hirayama, Executives Vice President of Yasui Architects & Engineers, Inc. Tetsutaro Omura, Director of Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. Masamichi Watanabe, and Representative Director of Sanki Engineering Co., Ltd. Hidemi Fujii. The Chinese side was represented by Former Deputy Director-General of Bureau of International Cooperation Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Qiu Huasheng, Vice President of Shanghai Branch of CAS Qu Ronghui, Vice President of SARI Huang Weiguang, and Director of Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission Cao Ming.

During the ceremony, NEDO Executive Director Munehiko Tsuchiya greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped that this project would lead to the expansion of energy-efficient buildings throughout China, by utilizing the results of the project in cooperation with Chinese stakeholders.
