NEDO Held Ceremony to Celebrate the Start of Operations of Large EV Bus System in Malaysia

On August 28, 2017, NEDO held a ceremony to celebrate the start of operations of a large EV bus system in Putrajaya City, Malaysia.

By introducing a large EV bus system that can drive 30 km on a ten minute charge, the project will contribute to the realization of a smart urban transportation system by improving efficiency. It will also widely promote a package type project of new urban transportation.

At the ceremony, Secretary General of Ministry of Federal Territories Datuk Seri Adnan Bin Haji Md Ikshan, Mayor of Putrajaya City Datuk Seri Haji Hasim Bin Haji Ismail and NEDO Executive Director Makoto Watanabe were in attendance. The Japanese side was represented by Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corp., PUES Corp., HASETEC Corp., and Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. The Malaysian side was represented by the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia.

During the ceremony, Executive Director Watanabe greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped that this project would lead to the introduction and expansion of environmentally-friendly public transportation.
