NEDO Signed a Letter of Intent regarding the Introduction of Wind Power Generation Systems in the Eastern Region of Russia

On September 6, 2017, NEDO, the Government of the Sakha Republic of the Russian Federation and RusHydro signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation on demonstrating energy infrastructure, including wind power generation systems, at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia.

NEDO, the Government of the Sakha Republic, and RusHydro agreed to cooperate on a feasibility study that NEDO will conduct in Tiksi and confirmed the basic system configuration and the schedule for the demonstration project. NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa, Head of the Sakha Republic Yegor Borisov, and Chairman of the Management Board and General Director of RusHydro Nikolay Shulginov were the letter of intent's signees.

The next day, on September 7, 2017, Japanese companies and Russian local governments signed two memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding introduction of the wind power generation systems in Kamchatka Krai and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug based on the results of a NEDO project demonstrating a wind power generation system in the area. NEDO Chairman Furukawa and NEDO Executive Director Makoto Watanabe were present at the signing ceremony.
