Chairman Furukawa Gave Remarks at the Eastern Economic Forum

On September 6 and 7, 2017, the Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok, Russia. On the last day of the forum, NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa spoke at the "Smart Energy" session.

Minister of Energy of Russian Federation Alexander Novak and the representatives of the energy companies in Russia also participated in the session. Chairman Furukawa explained to the audience about the expansion of wind power generation systems based on the demonstration project NEDO carried out in Kamchatka Krai. He noted that not only this project but several others were all as part of a broader promotion of smart energy, including the project on advanced traffic signal control systems being conducted in Moscow and the project on advanced eco-friendly waste treatment systems preparing to launch in the Republic of Buryatia. He stated that NEDO would like to contribute to promoting further cooperation between Japan and Russia by introducing Japanese technology to the nation. Chairman Furukawa's speech generated much interest among the Russian audience.
