NEDO Launched a New Startup Support Program That Will Utilize the Results of Joint Research between Thailand and Japan

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by NEDO and Thailand's National Innovation Agency (NIA) in July 2017, NEDO has launched a new startup support program, the "SPROUT-Deep-tech Startup Development Program," which will utilize the results of joint research between Thailand and Japan.

This program consists of three stages: support for entrepreneurs, hands-on support for businesses, and opportunities for startups to participate in pitch event.

After selecting two results of joint research conducted by Mahidol University and Kasetsart University as subjects for the program, NEDO held the first mentoring meeting on September 28, 2017. Mentors including Managing Director of INDEE Japan Ltd. Tatsuro Tsushima and experts from Thailand, who provided mentoring in the first stage of the program.

By next March, NEDO will schedule two more meetings, aiming to reach the second stage in which startups can start their businesses with financial support from the NIA. During the meeting, startups will have opportunities to discuss their businesses, including concepts, models, and human resources, as well as to learn from the mentors. In addition, NEDO will cooperate with the NIA to establish a supportive startup environment.
