Notice: Innovation for Cool Earth Forum (ICEF) Starts on October 4, 2017

The fourth annual meeting of the Innovation for Cool Earth Forum (ICEF) will be held in Tokyo on October 4-5, hosted by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization.

ICEF is attended by the world’s leading experts from industry, academia, and government, and aims to encourage discussion and cooperation on addressing climate change issues through the promotion and acceleration of innovation in the areas of energy and the environment. The forum was established on the initiative of Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and its annual meeting has been held in Japan since 2014.

With a view toward achieving net-zero CO2 emissions, ICEF’s main theme, in-depth discussions will take place at the annual meeting this year regarding the development and dissemination of technologies enabling the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Discussion topics will also include the possibility of utilizing blockchain technology which has become a key technology for exchanging cryptocurrencies.
