October 12, 2017

On October 6, NEDO and Yamagata University co-hosted the "NEDO Forum 2017 in Yamagata" at the Yamagata University Frontier Center for Organic Materials (FROM) in Yonezawa City.

In his opening speech, NEDO Executive Director Dr. Masayoshi Watanabe greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped this forum would contribute to supporting local companies and universities in starting new businesses, while also revitalizing the economy in the Tohoku region, which includes Yamagata Prefecture, by allowing entrepreneurs to take advantage of NEDO’s support systems.

At the special lecture on support for startups, Vice President and Executive Director of Yamagata University Yoshihiro Ohba, together with Director and Executive Officer of Spiber Inc. Junichi Sugahara, delivered the keynote lecture. Human Metabolome Technologies, Inc. (HMT), Metcela Inc., and C&A Corporation also gave lectures on NEDO project case studies.

At the explanatory meeting, NEDO representatives provided information on proposal solicitation, and they were joined by representatives from the Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), who provided information on their own projects and activities. NEDO also offered individual consultations about NEDO's current project solicitations.
