On October 5 and 6, 2017, NEDO held its "Strategic Advancement of Multi-Purpose Ultra-Human Robot and Artificial Intelligence Technologies (SAMURAI)" Workshop - Business Matching - Event at Makuhari Messe.

The workshop was based on the Japanese government's New Robot Strategy, and the basic plan for the project was designed in line with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry policy. To promote development of promising technologies for practical use, the event provided business matching opportunities for project contractors and companies that agreed to sign non-disclosure agreements.

In the opening speech, NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped this workshop could provide research partnership matching opportunities and support for recognition of technology needs. At the workshop, SECOM CO., LTD. Advisor Tsuneo Komatsuzaki delivered a keynote lecture entitled "Expectations for Commercialization of Robot and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technologies," which addressed the availability of robot and AI technology for solving social issues, as well as key factors impacting the commercialization of research and development results.
