NEDO Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation on Demonstration Project for Seawater Desalination System

October 20, 2017

On October 19, 2017, at the venue of the Japan-Qatar Joint Economic Committee, NEDO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) on a demonstration project for a seawater desalination system that will process heated discharge water.

This project aims to introduce and promote an energy-efficient, low-environmental impact seawater desalination system that enables the processing of heated discharge water, in order to respond to the growth in water demand due to a population increase and economic growth in Qatar.

NEDO President Akihiko Miyamoto and KAHRAMAA President HE. Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari signed the MOU at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
