NEDO Held "16th Promotion Meeting for Industrial Technology" Focused on the Theme of "Developing Basic Technology to Realize an Internet of Things Society"

On November 10, 2017, NEDO co-hosted the "16th Promotion Meeting for Industrial Technology" at the MONODZUKURI Nippon Conference in Tokyo, together with the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd. The meeting focused on the theme of "Developing Basic Technology to Realize an Internet of Things (IoT) Society."

At the meeting, Hiroyuki Morikawa, Professor, The University of Tokyo delivered the keynote speech, on the potential of utilizing digital technology for social change.

In addition, NEDO introduced results and showcased prototypes regarding the eleven themes of crosscutting technology development project to promote IoT, as well as the three themes regarding demonstration projects for smart factories that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) conducted in FY2016.

More than 300 people participated in the meeting. The meeting gathered various opinions regarding technologies and projects, while also building new cooperative relationships for research, development and commercialization.
