"NEDO Forum 2017 in Kumamoto" Held

On November 21, NEDO held its "NEDO Forum 2017 in Kumamoto" at KKR Hotel Kumamoto in Kumamoto City.

In his opening speech, NEDO Executive Director Dr. Masayoshi Watanabe greeted attendees by saying that NEDO hoped that this forum could contribute to supporting local companies and universities as they start new businesses, while also revitalizing the economy and supporting restoration in Kumamoto by helping the local businesses take advantage of NEDO's support systems.

At a special symposium on Internet of Things (IoT) - which is a major area of cooperation among NEDO, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Kumamoto University, and the government of Kumamoto prefecture - both AIST and Kumamoto University introduced their projects. Distinguished Professor Tsuyoshi Sekitani of Osaka University delivered the keynote lecture, and ZENRIN Co., Ltd. and Liquid JAPAN (KK) also both gave lectures on NEDO project case studies. In addition, Bamboo Energy Co., Ltd. gave a lecture as a company in Kumamoto prefecture that is working together with NEDO.

At the explanatory meeting, NEDO representatives provided information on proposal solicitation, and they were joined by representatives from the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, AIST, the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation JAPAN, and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), which each provided information on their own projects and activities. NEDO also offered individual consultations about NEDO's current project solicitations.
