DERBI 2009 International Conference

  The DERBI 2009 International Conference held June 11-13, 2009 in Perpignan, France, welcomed a Japanese delegation that included NEDO Chairman Seiji Murata and Kanagawa Prefecture Governor Shigefumi Matsuzawa as special guests of honor.
  During his keynote speech for the conference, Mr. Murata introduced NEDO’s efforts to resolve energy and environmental issues and stressed the significance of the cooperative relationship between France and Japan in the energy and environment field.
Mr. Hideki Fukuda, Director General of NEDO’s New Energy Technology Development Department, gave a presentation on recent trends in the field of advanced smart grid technology development in Japan. The conference also included several workshops highlighting the efforts being made by private firms, research institutes, and municipalities to develop and promote various renewable energy sources. In addition, discussion sessions were held to exchange information regarding Japanese and French policies for renewable energy utilization.

Note: The DERBI 2009 International Conference was hosted by the Development of Renewable Energy in Building and Industry (DERBI) competitiveness cluster in Perpignan, which is located adjacent to the border of France and Spain.
