英文要約Title: Development of Preparatory Basic Bioenergy Technologies : Accelerated Technology Development for Biofuel : R&D of Method to Measure Biomass Carbon Ratio of Biopolyolefin
For our economy to become more biomass-oriented, technologies to convert and utilize biopolyolefins, synthetic resins derived from biomass, are being developed. For these biopolyolefin to be disseminated, it is necessary to develop a measuring method that can distinguish biopolyolefin from petroleum resins. Because the physical properties such as molecular weight, mechanical and thermal properties, of polyolefin derived from petroleum are the same as those derived from biomass, a new method to measure the biomass carbon ratio of polyolefin will be developed using radiocarbon C-14 in order to distinguish these polyolefins. C-14 ratios of resources of ordinary polyolefin and biopolyolefin were measured by an accelerator mass spectrometry. C-14 ratios of the composites consisting of polyolefins or biopolyolefins and fillers were also measured. The evaluation method of biomass carbon ratio of the above materials was investigated.
Biomass carbon ratios of polymer and additives were measured indivisually by separating an actual product made of polyolefin and additives. It was found that polyporpylene product could be separated by solvent and could be measured biomass carbon ratios for polymer part and additive part individually. It was also found that thermal degradation was not effective for separation of polymer and additives.
