In order to acquire the fundamental technology for producing a well-insulated foam structure, this fiscal year, the following research developments were conducted in the aspects of the equipment condition, molding condition, and material composition of polymer, blowing agent, and additives.
Design and manufacture of an equipment for producing a well-insulated extruded foam.
The problems to produce the objective foam structure were clarified. And then the direction for an applicable equipment spec and a molding condition was determined by examining the improvement.
Development of a well-insulated extruded foam and the molding technology
The relation between a specific foam structure and thermal conductivity, the relation between the cell structure we uniquely developed and thermal conductivity were investigated in detail, and then the direction of the foam structure and the cell structure for low thermal conductivity was determined.
Furthermore, the study to maintain low thermal conductivity was conducted and the attained level of a specific foam structure was estimated by simulation.
Clarification of the possibility of market deployment
Based on the above-mentioned development, the investigations of the target market and the direction of productization were progressed.
As mentioned above, the objective for fiscal 2010 was almost achieved.
