1. Research on Practical Application of Nano-imaging Technique for Cancer Tissues
We started to make a plan for developing products according to the information of the pathological diagnosis market, the market trend of molecular target drugs and financial reports of two major companies which provide diagnostic reagents for the molecular target drugs.
The detailed workflow and the worldwide market trend of the pathological diagnosis will be analyzed in next fiscal year.
2. Validation of the Clinical Values of This System
Needs analysis based on interview surveys from university hospitals and pathological diagnosis departments in clinical laboratories has roughly completed. For example, a virtual microscopy is needed to perform at high speed because pathologists have to observe many slides and their observation time for each slide is basically very short. One out of seven institutes which we interviewed installed a virtual microscopy. However this institute has not used it as an actual clinical diagnosis. This fact indicated that the current virtual microscopy system doesn’t meet the customer needs from the viewpoint of fast processing, including image capturing speed. This result will be incorporated into a specification of our automatic system.
The trend of molecular target drugs is changing rapidly. Therefore the large-scale and long-term survey and analysis are needed to catch up requests for the diagnostic reagents for each cancer.
