(1)高温超電導ケーブルの重要要素技術の検証
平成22 年度は、引き続き30m 検証用ケーブルの残存性能確認、試験結果の解析を行った。
30m ケーブルを切り出し、5~10mのケーブルに切り分け、各部の臨界電流を測定し、試験前の初期の性能を有することを確認した。また電気絶縁性能についても、AC90kV・3 時間、AC120kV・10 分、インパルス±385kV・各3回の、初期と同等な試験を行い、良好に課電できることを確認した。
これらの結果、昨年度行った短絡電流試験、冷凍機故障模擬試験によりケーブルに過酷な負荷をかけたが、特に性能が劣化することなく良好であり、設計の妥当性が確認できた。
尚、短絡電流模擬試験は、30m級の超電導ケーブルに世界で初めて短絡電流を流した試験であったが、並行して進めた解析により、短絡電流による発熱にて発生した温度上昇、圧力上昇は3.5K、約100kPa と運転に支障を与えるものでない結果が得られている。
また、冷凍機故障模擬試験においては、冷凍機が停止した状態でも2時間は定格運転が可能であるとの結果が得られた。これら、トラブル時を想定した試験結果から、現地におけるトラブル時の処置方法について、方針を定めた。

R&D item (1) Study on general reliability of HTS cable system
(1) Verification of key technologies for HTS cables
* Ic (Critical current) were measured for sample cables with 5 to 10 m length cut from the 30 m cable and it is confirmed that the measured Ic were almost same as original ones. In addition, AC 90 kV for 3 hs, AC 120 kV for 10 ms and Imp±385kV for 3 times, which are the same manner of the initial tests, were applied successfully.
* The cable system design are proved valid because some severe tests for the cable system such as short-circuit current tests and failure mode test of the cooling system did not make the cable system damaged or worse in performance.
(2) Development of a total system
* To be reflected in the test results of the 30 m cable system, operation monitoring items, such as temperatures and pressures of liquid nitrogen in the cable, flow rate of liquid nitrogen in the cooling system, etc. were summarized and minor and major failures were defined.
* The guidelines for the cable installation, fabrication of terminations, a joint and a cooling system at the Asahi site were prepared to check safety and product quality.
* Regarding to the cooling system, some verification tests were conducted with a cooling system composed of three refrigerators and two pumps at the Mayekawa factory.
* At the temperature control tests, On-Off operation of refrigerators were conducted to check the timing of On-Off operation and the program soft of refrigerator’s rotation.
* At the pressure control tests, operations of natural pressure control, heater pressure control, gas pressure control and condensation pressure control were confirmed as designed.
(3) Development of operation technology on electric power transmission
* In consideration of the test results of the 30m HTS cable system and the cooling system in Mayekawa factory, a operation and control manual fro the normal mode and the failure mode were summarized. Moreover, maintenance methods of the cooling system were planned.
(4) Demonstration of reliable performance in the real grid
* The engineering works at Asahi site as a foundation work and building constructions, were completed. On the other hand, manufacturing of the HTS cable, components of the termination and the joint and other materials were completed.
* Assembling the cooling system at the Asahi site was finished completely
R&D item (2) Study on Normalization of operation technology for HTS cable system
* Some data in terms of testing results and studies on testing method were reported at the WG on CIGRE B1.
* Study on lower AC loss for actual HTS cable was started cooperated with Nigata University. Orientation for getting lower AC loss was found by means of the calculation using HTS wires with lower AC loss and some larger cable conductors.
